Jacob Thomas-board member
Jacob is a second year at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) pursuing a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and a M.S. in Physics. He is conducting research with a team around the world, based at Fermilab and Stockholm University on axion dark matter haloscopes. At IIT, Jacob serves as the President of the Society for Industrial & Applied Mathematics, Secretary of the Society of Physics Students, Senator for the Student Government Association, and an Associate Editor of Applied Mathematics for the Undergraduate Research Journal. Following graduation, Jacob hopes to pursue a PhD related to either Physics or Mathematics. During his free time, Jacob enjoys running, watching cinema (while of course leaving ratings on Letterboxd), reading, biking, and exploring the diversity of food, cultures, and architecture around Chicago.

Josh Jerisha is a sophomore at Northwestern University majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in Science in Human Culture. He has conducted research with a professor at Feinberg on antibiotic resistance in P. aeruginosa and has collaborated with the Journal of Medical Internet Research for a publication on COVID-19, social media, and mental health. He also serves as a staff writer for the STEM group of the Northwestern Undergraduate Research Journal and as a newsletter writer for the Community Health Corps. As a 3rd Degree Black Belt in karate, Josh enjoys martial arts in his free time alongside frisbee, Tom Clancy novels, and spending time with his family (especially his two golden retrievers, Buddha and Appa).
